Step-by-Step Guide to Install Visitor Edge on a Custom Website

This guide will help you install Visitor Edge on your custom website by modifying the header section and embedding the necessary tracking code. This process applies to platforms such as Webflow, Squarespace, Wix, GoHighLevel, and more.

Step 1: Access Your Website’s Code

  1. Log in to Your Website Builder: Open your website’s platform (e.g., Webflow, Squarespace, Wix, or GoHighLevel) and log into your account.

  2. Navigate to the Code Settings: Locate the section for adding custom code. This is typically found under settings or advanced settings. Look for a section labeled "Header" or "Site-wide code."

Step 2: Install the Visitor Edge header script

  1. Copy the Visitor Edge Tag: In your Visitor Edge setup interface, locate the JavaScript snippet for the Visitor Edge Tag. It will look something like this:

  2. Embed the Tag: Paste the code snippet into the HEAD section of your website’s code. This ensures that the tag initializes properly when users visit your site.

Step 3: Save and Publish

  1. Save Changes: After adding the scripts, ensure you save your changes in the code settings.

  2. Publish Your Website: For changes to take effect, publish your website. The new tracking code must be live for Visitor Edge to start monitoring events.

Step 5: Verify Installation

  1. Visit Your Website: Paste in the URL of the page where you are tracking events and click "Verify Script Installation". You'll see a success message if everything is good.

  2. Check Visitor Edge Dashboard: Log in to your Visitor Edge dashboard and verify that data is being recorded. You may notice events starting to appear as users interact with your site.

Adding additional Custom Events:

If you'd like to track other events other than the Page View, they need to be added below the "PageView" event.

Important Note:

Since you are using a custom website setup, you may experience minor issues related to tag firing. Ensure your code is placed correctly within the HEAD section to avoid any complications.
